Haley Naslonski, junior, has been recognized by Newsday for their annual Top 50 Field Hockey Players to Watch list.

“This is a very exciting achievement for me because I started field hockey as just a secondary sport and never thought I would grow such a love for it,” Naslonki said.

Every afternoon, the fields come alive with sounds of determination and teamwork, as the varsity field hockey team practices tirelessly.

“They make sacrifices during the season like missing social events because of their commitment to their sport,” Mr. Agostino, Athletic Director, said.

Not only did this recognition brighten the athletic department, but it also enlightened many students.

“The best part about sports here at Bay Shore is the amount of opportunities and activities to participate in. It has made me want to do more sports,” Gianna Krieger, sophomore and JV tennis player said.

Behind every successful athlete, there are dedicated coaches who provide guidance and support.

“Over my time playing field hockey, my biggest help is always Coach Drago and Coach Harney,” Haley said. “Not only have they taught me all the skills and knowledge I have in Field hockey, but they also can tell when something is wrong.”

Mr. Agostino also sheds light on the impact of recognition.

“I believe the more positive recognition we can get, the better for future players, current players, and the community as a whole.”
