When I stepped into Roto All Day Cafe, I immediately felt comfortable. The atmosphere was calm with natural lighting throughout the space. This new cafe is adjacent to the apartment complexes by Bay Shore’s Main Street. The space is decorated with a mix of vintage and minimalistic style with the perfect pop of green throughout the cafe to tie the whole place together. The barista that helped me was kind and informative about the menu items available. I ordered a chai latte, chicken wrap and banana bread.
The chai latte was delicious and had the perfect amount of spiciness. I ordered a chai latte with cold foam and regular milk. The cold foam and the regular milk were the perfect balance. It had the perfect amount of spiciness with a creamy texture from the cold foam.
The schnitzel salad wrapped in collard greens includes a chicken cutlet, collard greens, and apples. The combinations of flavors all blended perfectly. The taste was almost colorful with a sweet juicy bite from the apples, and the breaded chicken pieces went perfectly together with the tart of the apple. The lettuce was fresh, bringing the flavors of the apple and chicken all together. The potato chips that come with the schnitzel salad have a slight vinaigrette taste which I really like, they aren’t too salty, but are a little bland.
To end my visit, I tried the banana bread, which was nicely toasted. Salt flakes were added on top of it. The salt adds on the already really good banana bread. The banana bread pairs perfectly with the chai latte. However, the salt flakes in some bites can be overpowering.
As someone who loves trying new foods, I love finding new places to go out to eat. But I’m not the biggest foodie, and I would consider myself very selective with food. Overall, I would give Roto All Day Cafe a 9/10. It’s a very beautiful classy cafe, and the food is flavorful, especially the drinks. However, the food is expensive, especially for a high school student.
